Honoring all the Little Heroes out there…

Over the last 3 or 4 months I have been honored to be part of the Littlest Heroes Project, which is now the ‘Inspiration thru Art Project.’   When I first joined on to be one of the photographers, the organization was dedicated to helping families find photographers in their area to donate their time and some prints.  They have now expanded their goals (sweeeeet) to include more then just photo sessions for the heroes!  They are now offering programs and volunteer opportunities for children, teens, and adults who also want to give back, but don’t do photography.  Inspiration Through Art is also now offering special traveling art sessions for children who are currently in treatment in various participating hospitals.  If you want to learn more just click here.

Now, I can’t leave without a few pictures too…here are a few pics from the sessions I have been part of – each of them amazing, enlightening and just plain fun…:-)  Hope you enjoy the shots – talk to you all soon!

Engagement Session – Rachel & Tim

On Sunday I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Rachel and Tim to do their engagement session…it was a terrific day all around!  The weather was terrific as we romaed around the Jaffrey/Rindge area looking for spots to shoot and have some fun.  Picking a few short words to depict Rachel and Tim would certainly be “laid back” and it really comes through on the shots – they were relaxed and we all shared quite a few laughs and stories as the day went on.  It was great working with both of you and I cannot wait until 06-10-11 for the wedding!!

And to make this even sweeter for Rachel and Tim, lets help them out…if they can get 20 comments on this post, they will get $20 towards prints – you want to help them out, right?  :-)

So – without delaying this any longer, here are some shots from the session, hope you guys love them as much as we do!!

…small but dangerous…Mason’s 1st Birthday…

OK – so the title of the post says it all…:-)   Yesterday was Mason’s first birthday party and while he is still such a little guy, it was funny to see him walking around.  We started the morning with a quick photo shoot and while he may not have been flashing his big grin he certainly showed off the personality!  I am adding a quick comparison here for everyone to show just how much he’s grown from 1 week old to 1 year old.  Congratulations Mason (and Matt and Sarah) on completion of your first year – I can’t wait to see what this year brings!

Wedding Bells…Liz and Andrew…

First off let me start by saying congratulations to Liz and Andrew – it was a beautiful wedding and I was honored to be a part of it.  Now, before we get to the pictures, let me set the scene for anyone that was not a part of the event.  It’s Saturday June 12th, about 8AM, and I look outside to see the weather…and well, it’s drizzling.  Let’s keep in mind, the ceremony is supposed to be outdoors at Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH.  So, I setup my phone to keep the doppler running so I can check it throughout the day as I am dead set on willing the rain to stop.  I arrive around 10AM at Liz’s house to get some shots of everything being setup and all of the lovely ladies getting ready – but first, weather check – it has gone from drizzle to rain, but the doppler looks like it should be clear by 1PM and the ceremony isn’t until 6:30PM – so we aren’t sweating it.  I run between the raindrops and snag some shots and then head inside where it is just a tad drier.  Gets to be around noon, the house is bustling with people getting ready and everyone’s mood is good – weather check – still raining and now it looks like it might be about 2PM before it stops, but hey, still plenty of time.  About 4PM now, dresses are getting ready to be put on and final touches are being made for the reception – weather check – the weathermen LIE, the rain did slow for a little while but now we are back to rain and the doppler is not looking in our favor.  Almost time to go to the ceremony now, we have put off the pictures of the women’s portion of the wedding party as long as we could hoping for a break in the rain but it just would not give it up – so we packed everyone onto the front porch (certainly can’t have all of the beautiful hair messed up by the rain…:-)) and started shooting.  Well, here is where I get to thank my assistant and second shooter, Derick, who certainly was a big part of this event.  Normally he gets to stay in the distance, getting some of the more distant and angled shots but today his camera was traded in for an umbrella which he unselfishly held over my head during most of the shots taken from this point on until we got to the reception.  At this point, I know a lot of brides and their parties who would be really upset at the weather, but not Liz and her girls - she  kept her calm and just rolled with the punches and we all made the best of what we had.  In fact, I really have to give it to her and everyone else that helped with the preparations as they had thought through the potential of rain as 80+ umbrellas had been bought for the ceremony should it rain (and yes – it rained…not drizzle, not mist, RAIN).  The rest of the ceremony went well, rain or not, and there was a lot of loving family and friends that hung in there despite the weather to wish Liz and Andrew well.

So, now I’ll get on with the pictures now as I am sure that’s what you are here for…however, before I do I’d like to set a challenge for all of you…if this post can get 20 comments, I will give Liz and Andrew a $20 print credit!  You do want to help them right? :-)   Just leave a comment for them, I’m sure they would love to see them!  Thanks everyone for visiting!

…a visit to The Butterfly Place…

So we started a very nice day yesterday with a trip to Westford Massachusetts to bring the kids to The Butterfly Place ( check out their website here:  http://www.butterflyplace-ma.com ).  It is a really nice exhibit where you can walk among hundreds of butterflies as well as a few birds, moths and even a few fish.  Some of the butterflies were absolutely gorgeous with some of the most vibrant colors imaginable.  So, rather than try to explain it in words, I’ll let some pictures do the talking!  Also, I am far from a videographer, but I did take a short HD clip of one of the most colorful butterflies – there is no sound because I purposely removed it – there were 3 bus loads of 5-6 year old kids for a field trip that were in the exhibit with us and the noise was just a little too much for the video…:-)
